The Doroga Zhizni Museum (THE ROAD OF LIFE) was opened for visitors on September 12, 1972, marking the 31st anniversary of the military water route across Lake Ladoga. The museum is located near Ladoga’s coast, not far from Osinivets Cape where the legendary Road of Life started from. The museum was opened thanks to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the personnel of the Central Naval Museum. The collection of the museum tells us about the unexampled heroism of the defenders of Leningrad in the years of the Great Patriotic War. A lot of relics from those days are kept in five rooms, such as flags and banners, various guns, ship models, airplane and car models, documents, photographs and personal belongings. Behind each piece, there is a human story, a deed of valour.
