Model of the 51-gun screw frigate “Alexander Nevsky”

The 51-gun frigate ”Alexander Nevsky” was the last major Russian warship built of woos and the seventh in the fleet to bear such a name. The shop is mainly known for the fact of her shipwreck. On night of September the 12th-13th , 1868, following under full sail off the coast of Jutland, she hit a coastal spit at 10 knots and crashed. At that moment the 18-year-old Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich was on board as a Lieutenant of the fleet. He took an active part in the rescue of the crew. The model was presented to Grand Duke to commemorate  this dramatic event//1869
