“Invincible Ushakov” Exhibition was opened at the expo center of the Central Naval Museum on 2
March 2017.
The CNM employees managed to create an exposition that is unique in many ways, as there is very little extant material and documented evidence about Fyodor Fyodorovich Ushakov. That is why it is especially important that together with a genuine epaulet there is exhibited a historically accurate replica of the Admiral’s tail-coat uniform created by enthusiasts from the town of Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Region.
It is neighbored by six watercolors of the second half of the 18th century painted by Afanasii Depaldo who not only served as a midshipman in the Black Sea Navy Fleet in the days of victorious battles of Ushakov but also depicted them for descendants. The exhibited watercolors are naturally accompanied with wonderful models of ships which participated in those battles: they are battleships Triokh Ierarkhov, Bogoyavleniye Gospodne and Sviatoi Pavel. The exhibition also shows models of captured Turkish battleships from the collection ordered by Catherine II, as well as a model of the French xebec which was captured near Corfu and named Makarii in the Russian Fleet.
You may also see the Decree of Alexander I on Resignation of Admiral F.F. Ushakov, typescript of the scenario of Admiral Ushakov film produced in 1953, as well as samples of Turkish and Russian weapons, service medals of the period of Russo-Turkish wars, as well as samples of 1 st and 2nd class Ushakov military decorations established in 1944, at the exhibition.
