The Studio of Military Marine Artists of the USSR Navy was established in Leningrad in 1952 by order of the Minister of the Navy, Vice Admiral N.G. Kuznetsov. After a competitive selection, talented masters of fine arts, members of the Union of Artists of the USSR, who know and love the marine genre and the navy, were enrolled in the studio. The general management was carried out by the Main Political Directorate of the Russian Navy.
There are currently 5 artists working in the studio, including 1 sculptor. The artists of the TsVMM Workshop are participants of various art exhibitions. Since 1952, about 30 artists have worked in the museum's workshop.
The main task of the museum's artists is to create works of fine art for the Museum's exposition, as well as to make highly artistic copies of paintings by marinists of the past for the interiors of cultural and educational institutions of the Navy.
Their paintings hang not only in the Central Naval Museum, but also in other museums in Russia and abroad, as well as in private collections.
